Sara + Jordan | Winter Elopement | The Red Mill | Waupaca Wisconsin

They say when you know, you just know. And from that first date, Sara and Jordan knew. She made him feel at ease and comfortable enough to be himself. And hugging him was like coming home.

Sara messaged me at the beginning of February asking if I had plans on Valentine’s Day because she and Jordan were planning a spur of the moment wedding. I cancelled my romantic evening of Netflix and Jim Beam with my cat and said “Hell yes. Sign me up.”

These two had been tentatively planning a summer wedding but when it came down to it they realized the only thing they really cared about was committing themselves to one another, being husband and wife, starting their life together. And to do that they didn’t need to plan out some extravagant event. And they didn’t want to wait. So we met on a windy February evening at the place they went the first time they exchanged vows to love, support, and care for each other.

This is why first looks are lit-er-ally the best!

Like for real. Can we take a moment to appreciate both of their outfits? I know brides normally steal the show but Jordan was also looking hella dapper and killing the game.

Like I said these two went to The Red Mill the very first time they met. And then Sara dreamt of marrying Jordan there. And it could not have been a more perfect spot. We were the only ones there and there was only the sound of the water in the background. They performed their own ceremony (which is quickly becoming my favorite thing!) so it was perfectly them and heartfelt and genuine to who they are separately and together.

I just want everyone to know that getting these sparkler pictures were a struggle! Between actually getting them lit to me running around them with my frozen toes to my camera falling in the mud.... but I'd say it was worth it.

Shooting in the pitch black was definitely a challenge for me. But I loved getting to experiment and try new things. And I actually think these turned out pretty rad.

Lisa + Wes | Waupaca WI | Wisconsin Couples Photographer

These two met because Lisa wanted a free dinner. No I'm not kidding. I've known Lisa since high school and when she told me that I wasn't even the least bit surprised. She has always been super independent and career driven. So the fact that she was trying to be resourceful instead of romantic is right on point (and hilariously adorable!). She never expected that Wes would turn out to be thoughtful, sweet, caring, the father of her daughter and her future husband. But here we are! Less than a year away from their wedding. These two were such troopers for their engagement shoot. To say it was chilly would be the understatement of the year! But Lisa and Wes were totally down to run around down town Waupaca with me, do whatever I said, and look completely bad ass while doing it.

Even little Cleo came and toughed it out in the bitter cold. And we bonded over the fact that people have always called me "Cleo" by mistake and people will no doubt call her "Chloe" by mistake. We're basically the best of friends now.

Wes is a cop which means Lisa probably won't ever get to be on a jury (she's extremely disappointed. f'real.) but it does mean we got to sneak inside the police station to warm up a little bit.

Lisa kept telling me she didn't know what to do in front of the camera and that she needed lots of direction..... ummmmm I beg to differ.

We ended our shoot with coffee at Little Fat Gretchen's. If you're ever in Waupaca definitely definitely go to this adorable quirky joint and stuff your face with their unique spin on diner food!

Jace + Brittney - Wedding

There is something so exciting about photographing the wedding of people I am familiar with. I have known both Brittney and Jace since before they even started dating. I am lucky enough to call them friends. These are two of the most genuine, sweet, giving people I have ever met.
And let me tell you they got it right here folks. This is the real deal. Their love I mean. They are best friends. Not like that cliche "oh I'm marrying my best friend" thing. Like legit. They are a team. They speak to each other sweetly and with understanding. And they are always always always making each other laugh. I don't consider myself a big romantic but let's be real here for a second... I walked away from this day remembering why I started photographing couples. That thing that I am always searching for in people.. these two have it. And I love them for it.
And not only are Brittney and Jace all around amazing they are adorable and seriously know how to plan a wedding. The details at this wedding. Damn. They killed it.

are these not the most precious little flower girls of all time? gah.

This was one of the most beautiful, emotional, and wonderful moments I have ever gotten to photograph. I am so glad I was there for this.

converse... a couple after my own heart.

aaaand que crazy dance party complete with 80's garb and what I believe is called a stump banjo(?)... yup I adore this wedding.

I'm wrapping this up with my favorite little set of photos. I can't explain how amazing it was that this couple valued their photographs. They cut out a huge chunk of time for me. They picked out some kick ass locations. And they never once complained about the rain. That's how it's done kids!
Brittney & Jace- I am so freaking happy I know you. I am so honored that you chose me to be a part of such an important moment in your lives. Thank you for being sweet and adventurous and trusting and fun. Like I said before... you two have it. That thing. Never let go of it and take care of each other. Let's get brew asap. xoxo
