You know what's tough guys? Life is tough. It's confusing and messy and painful at times. And It's insanely hard to navigate. But the great news is that we don't have to do it alone.
Recently in my facebook group (which if you're not a part of already you absolutely need to go get in on it right now!) we talked about the people you surround yourself with. We talked about identifying bad company and how a good strong pack of people can propel you forward in life. I'm not going to get into that too much right now though but definitely go watch our discussion about it because it's gooooood.
I want to talk about something else. I feel pretty damn lucky because I found some high quality friends in high school that are still involved in my life today. I know that not everyone is that fortunate so I feel even more blessed. We grew up together and they have turned into the most driven, passionate, caring women. We talk about everything from our careers and relationships to current issues and the arts. We don't get to spend as much time together as I wish we did but the time we do spend together is always always filled with real talk and encouragement and laughter.
Like I said, I'm not going to dive too deeply into what makes a good healthy friendship instead I'm going to talk about celebrating those friendships. Because let's be honest, if you have people like this in your life you need to give back to them! However that looks for you. Whether that's treating them to lunch, or watching their kids so they can have a date night, or sending them a handwritten card, or gifting them with a spa day, or planning a trip with them. Whatever you can do to show them that you appreciate them, go freaking do it!
I'm sure you've already guessed what that looked like for me. Like I said these girls and I have been through some shit together. And they are some of the most beautiful souls I know. And I wanted to give them the chance to see themselves through my eyes.
So we got together for an all day boudoir marathon! My girl Emily came over to work her makeup magic. (Obviously she fit right in and my friends all love her and want her to be a part of all our future girls days). We popped champagne and sipped whiskey and danced to Beyonce. Boudoir shoots are always tons of fun. But this day was different. The energy was entirely unique. Everyone was cheering each other on, sharing outfits, lifting each other up. Like I wish I could put it into words. I mean I knew group boudoir days would be a great idea, but now I am entirely 100% convinced that every group of friends should do this. We laughed a lot but we also cried. We talked about our insecurities and hugged each other and told each other over and over how much we loved one another. There was something therapeutic about the entire thing and I feel like we're so much closer now.
"I hadn't been comfortable with myself for a very long time so I wasn't even sure if I wanted to do a boudoir shoot. I had seen and even assisted Chloe with so many shoots in the past but I didn't think that I could have the same results or experience. Even when I was shopping for my shoot I couldn't find what I wanted and my body wasn't the perfect idea of what I wanted if I was ever going to do a boudoir shoot. But Chloe had a different viewpoint and an ability to portray exactly where I was at as something perfect. Also Emily's makeup is a game changer. We were all a little nervous but once she's finished you just feel ready to go. She has a way of making you feel like a new person and yet completely yourself. Even before my shoot was over I saw myself as a beautiful confident woman. And it really fired me up to keep going on my journey of health and self love and self discovery. It made me see myself as someone worthy of taking care of. And I loved being with a group of encouraging women. There was so much positive feminine energy. I remember going home and just feeling happy. I don't know how else to say it other than seeing myself that way and some of my girlfriends that way made me so insanely happy. Sometimes when you're in front of the camera you can feel like you're not doing anything or maybe you're not doing it right but Chloe is so good at directing and even before you see the images you feel so good about yourself. You need to do a boudoir shoot. It is a way bigger event and way more life changing than you could imagine. It was such a huge turning point in my confidence and self love journey. Even if you don't feel like you're ready just do it!"
"I think it’s always nerve wracking to be nearly naked in front of anyone. But I felt very supported by all my friends. Chloe did an awesome job making me feel comfortable enough to do this shoot, even with other people in the room! (Plus alcohol for courage) It was awesome doing this with my friends! I was a little worried it might be weird but instead it was like a big love bomb went off. I was so proud of my bad ass friends when they were getting their picture taken. Everyone is so beautiful! Chloe is the best at making you feel instantly comfortable in a situation you may have been feeling awkward about. And her pictures will make you feel like you’re a supermodel!"
"Going into this experience I really had no idea what to expect. I was so nervous but also excited. My initial trepidation quickly melted away as soon as I got there. The energy from my friends was contagious. During the photoshoot I didn’t feel awkward or nervous once. Chloe makes you feel so comfortable, telling you exactly how to pose, down to where to place your hands…and Emily’s styling is sure to make you feel wonderful no matter the occasion. The whole experience was fantastic! And sharing the day with my best friends made it even better. We were all there to support each other - It was great to hear the encouragement from your best friends. I’m already looking forward to doing another shoot with Chloe. I left that day feeling amazing and confident - I’m so glad I decided to do this!"
"I wanted to love my body again. I have had a hard time doing so lately and I thought doing a boudoir shoot might help. It did! I thought I would feel self-conscious or embarrassed. I did not feel those things at all - quite the opposite. I instantly felt at ease and had more confidence than I ever thought I would. I felt fierce AF when getting my pictures taken. My favorite part was laughing and jamming out with Chloe and my girlfriends. Doing it with friends was the best! It took some pressure off and made it feel like a girls day/party with my besties rather than just about me and the pictures. If you're thinking about doing a boudoir shoot, do it! Seriously, do it. I can't believe it took me so long to go for it and it was the absolute best. I will definitely do another one in the future!"
"I just want to tell you how crazy it is that I just keep looking at these photos! I can't believe how amazing it made me feel and how confident I feel now! I mean I am the most critical person of myself and always talk down to myself but I really can just say out loud now that I feel so pretty after seeing these! So glad I did it! Chloe is such amazing photographer!! Even though she is my best friend, it was still nerve racking to do it but she made it so easy! She made me feel so comfortable! There was never a time when I was like ummm now what! Chloe literally rocks and is just so damn awesome! I mean I knew all of this before but this just gave me another point of view! I just am so thankful for getting this opportunity!!! I could go on and on!"
